Defective Simplicity Crib Recall Attorneys
Made in China, Simplicity cribs were sold between January 1998 and May 2007 at major baby furniture stores across the country, including Babies “R” Us, Target, Big Lots, and Meijer. Roughly one million of these flawed cribs were recalled after three infants were suffocated and numerous others were trapped or injured by a failed drop-side component. The recall was voluntarily issued by the Pennsylvania-based company manufacturer, Simplicity Inc., who has since gone out of business.
Our Simplicity Crib Recall Lawyers believe the dangerous defect was due to the drop-side separating from the crib and causing a dangerous gap in which infants could become trapped. The separation was more likely to occur when the drop-side was installed upside-down, a common mistake caused by faulty design and instructions. The upside-down installation caused the hardware to weaken over time, eventually leading to the detachment. To date, our Simplicity Crib Recall Attorneys are aware of three deaths, seven entrapments, and 55 incidents of failed crib components.
